My boss at UTG is a member of Cherry Hills. He said several months ago there was a Bluegrass band from Hope that performed there. He really enjoyed it, and would like me to find out if they’d be interested in performing at our Christmas party on Dec 4th at Panther Creek. UTG would pay $1,500 to the band or make a donation to a charity they designate. The band would also be welcome to join us for dinner. Were you a part of this or know who was?

Guitar is done. I guess the saddle upgrade significally lowered the action... He mentioned this 3 times... Fear? I'm flatpicking, which equals playing pretty darn hard... If that action is too low, playing hard going to be a problem... Oh well... Oh, and I won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow because I'm completely fucking swamped here... Hrmph....

This song is *really* growing on me. The whole album is a dit difficult to connect with. I think they have transitioned from performing artists to recording artists. Deffinetely some choice moments, but I really can't see these guys pulling this stuff off live.

In a couple of hours Amy Jo and I - (minus) children will be going out on a boat. This week has included spending the days outsidew hanging gutters on my in-laws house. It's been entertaining =) Today was a break from that pleasure in trade for digging post holes, leveling poles and pouring concrete. It's 3:00 and I'm on my 3rd beer. When Amy Jo returns from whereever she is, I plan to hit the cigar shop here.

Whilst digging in tonight, I found this... When I was 19 I bought this chick's debut CD tape, and she totally rocked my world... Oh... Anyhoo... I learned this song all those years ago and loved it. I found this vid and picked up my guitar... Like muscle memory... I could still play this song like I learned it yesterday... Amy Jo had a tear in her eye when she head this; I ~~turned~~ played Amy Jo ~~on to~~ this ~~chick~~ song when we had our "first dinner" toghether... It was all over after that...

Last night I got a tour of the Y. I got a free two-week trial membership. I'm going to take advantage of it. Swim + lifting weights. Doors open @ 5:00AM. This is cool! I can get up, ride my bike there, lift weights for a half hour, swim for a half hour, ride back home and still have enough time to do the standing set. If I tweak it, I may even be able to fit in sword kata. But if I have to cut something out, it'll be sword kata. At least for the duration of the two weeks. The morning routine is rather delicately balanced. It's been the same for years. We'll see how this change works.

This morning I managed to develop a bike course through the park and LG that is exactly a 1/2 hour hard ride. Wiggins is a great street to ride down. A nice, long straight shot where you can sprint; South Grand to Cherry. When I get to Cherry, I weave in and out of the neighborhood towards home. I did the standing set outside. I have not done this for a couple of years. My crazy neightbor lady would always come outside and water stuff precisely when I would begin. Of course, she would have her yappy fucking dog in tow. It was annoying, It pissed me off, so I started keeping it in the house. It does something to you at times when you feel the sun on your face when engaged in that activity. I had forgotten/ not experienced that in a long time. While over the years I've learned to just let the whole "magic energies of the universe" concept go without thought; on certain days, something unusual presents itself in the standing set. Kind of like little weird remote viewing "glitches" that crop up. I had one of those last weekend. It's always stupid stuff. I was emailing someone and was describing how Amy Jo used to get really fussy with people and how she rarely does that anymore. I was using the example of how well behavied she has been with the doctors and her little "thing" that she has going on right now. I was going to say something along the lines of: 10 years ago she would have been clawing peoples eyes out by now. Then for some reason I changed it to say that: 10 years ago she would have been pulling peoples eyeballs out with a fish hook. After I hit send, I though about the fish hook thing. I thought to myself... Hmmm... That's a really odd thhing to say. A couple hours later, when we were at the park for our picnic, I looked down where the kids were playing and found a hish hook on the ground. I promptly pitched it before one of the kids got it stuck in one of their feet.

Last night Amy Jo and I giggled about our "spat" the day before. It was wholly attributed to nothing and completely rediculous. We sent the kids to bed and hung out together. It was a good night.

I just talked to Amy Jo. She slept today until around 2:00. She's not really looking forward to this. Neither am I, but answers need to be had. They scheduled the damn thing for 4:00; she's going to be going alone. I'm going to pick the kids up and have dinner ready when she get's home. Oh... After my drinking behavior this week I really need to go on a beer run. Although part of me is lobbying for beer cessation... Although, sure as shit, if I don't buy beer, Amy will return from the CAT scan and demand a cold one. Yes, I will buy beer. I need to get all my reloading done soon as well. I leave for the cabin in 9 days...

Premeditated skip day today. I need to take some "me" time. I'm going to run to Decatur to pick up my rifle. I brouhgt some work home that I can dink around with. I may even get my ass out and buy the new Mad Caddies! Later today I'll be having a few beers w/ AB. Last night I watched Grays. It was pretty entertaining. One character in particular I could relate to in a major way. Time for coffee and to roust munchkins. Who knows... There may even be posts (proper) today from Shadowdude... For certain, my disposition is doing better. Now if I could just get rid of my co-workers.

Two days in a row, up at 3:30. Today I took a break from Flight of the Bumblebee and dug this thing up. I wrote this a long time ago and have always picked it up and messed around with it as a novelty. It's actually a pretty extenisve syncronization exercise. When playing this, refuse any and all desire to sweep. Alternate pick the whole thing. When doing this, the attack reminds one of something ala Zack Wylde. It's kind of a challenge and something nice to work on for a couple of hours as a distractor. Time for the morning routine...

I was up very late last night and up very early this morning working on this. It's one of those things that has always been available, but I never took the time to learn it. I have had to force myself to not alter the fingering in several areas. It's forcing me to work from another perspective in terms of fingering approach.

In terms of memorizing, it's pretty easy thus far. However, I'm really gaining an understanding of why this piece of music has been a favorite throughout the ages as a guitar practice... The syncronization is a real mother fucker... Yea, I think Shadowdude will be buring this into the ground.

This weather makes me fussy.

Today a trip to the Rock Shop. Foodie was kind enough to let me rob the M22 series pickups out of the carcass of the Carvin. Yesterday they were installed in the Ibanez w/ little to no problems. After a single failed attempt, I decided I was too lazy to sit and think through wiring them to a 5-way switch. I have the money to have someone else figure it out.

Sat was spent at grandma's house. The back of the CRV is pretty much full of yarn. This will be distributed to MJ's house.

Sat Evening was spent with Foodie. This translates to Foodie and Shadow chasing kids around the house while A& A kill a couple fo bottles of wine. Whateva... It was an excellent visit. After those guys departed, Amy Jo and I hung out in the basement digging in Youtube. When she went to bed, I played guitar. I managed to roll into bed aroun 2:00.

Sun morning we go ourselves up and went over to my mom and dad's. Mom proceeded to load the kids up with brownies and cornchips... Lovely... I mentioned a family tradition that we did on Superbowl Sunday when I was growing up. Dad made a huge-ass pan of lasagna. I offered to make it, Amy agreed that it was a good idea! When we got home, the kids would absolutely not eat anything for lunch. Of course not, mom filled them up with sugar, salt and starch =) Both kids went down w/ out a hitch. I worked on the Ibanez and Amy balanced the checkbook/took the bank's word for it. After this I constructed the lasagna!

That afternoon, we made an executive decision. For the first time in 16 years together... We... Watched... A... Football game... And we had a really good time doing it... I will say that the kickoff of the game got me pumped... The kids chased each other around the house, Amy and Shadow watched football, ate lasagna, and drank beer! Oh, and bay the way... Regradless of what anyone says... Prince fucking kicked ass! His tone on the classics e.g., strat and tele is unbelievable. That is something that is attained by years of blood, sweat and tears hard-core practice... Damn!

Recovery. While I'm still not in any hurry to move quickly, things have improved drastically.
